ROCKFORD — Rockford Symphony Orchestra will close out its 90th season next week with a program highlighting composers who found inspiration in nature.

Music Director Yaniv Attar will present “Soundscapes,” and he and assistant conductor Benjamin Firer will hold a conversation on the stage before the show begins.

Doors open at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 11 at the Coronado Performing Arts Center, 314 N. Main St., in downtown. The pre-concert conversation begins at 6:30 p.m. and the final concert of the season starts at 7:30 p.m. An after-party on stage with the musicians happens immediately after the concert. A limited number of tickets are sold for the after-party.

The concert will open with Brahm’s violin concerto, featuring violinist Simone Porter. Porter made her professional solo debut at age 10 with the Seattle Symphony and her international debut with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London at age 13. In March 2015, she received an Avery Fisher Career Grant. Porter performs on a performs on a 1740 Carlo Bergonzi violin made in Cremona, Italy, on loan from The Master’s University in Santa Clarita, California.

The concert continues with Finnish composer Einojuhani Rautavaara’s Cantus Arcticus, which pairs the orchestra alongside recordings of birds singing.

It concludes with La Mer (The Sea) by Claude Debussy.
