ROCHELLE — A new event from the people behind the Rockford Boxing Classic will bring amateur boxing to a skydiving destination.

The inaugural Fight or Flight Classic is slated for Saturday, Feb. 24 inside the 20,000-square-foot airplane hangar at the Chicagoland Skydiving Center, 1207 E. Gurler Road, in Rochelle.

The Fight or Flight Classic includes a full slate of bouts sanctioned by USA Boxing with competitors from around the Midwest. It’s produced and sponsored by Jimmy Goodman, who is the vice president of USA Boxing Illinois Association and director of the Rockford Patriots Boxing Club, and Plus Seven Co.

Doors are scheduled to open at 5 p.m. when music, food and beverage sales, and entertainment begins. Food and drink are available from the Flight Deck Bar & Grill, the global inspired pub and caterer at Chicagoland Skydiving Center.

Boxing starts at 6 p.m. with the main card expected to start around 7:30 p.m. Featured bouts will be announced in the coming weeks.

“We’re very excited to host this event at the Chicagoland Skydiving Center in Rochelle,” Goodman said in a news release. “It’s a great venue and everyone in attendance is going to have a great time.”
