ROCKFORD — Northwest Community Center has named Nichol Fricks as its new executive director.

Fricks, who has worked at the center in various roles for 14 years, will lead the nonprofit that servers roughly 15,000 people each year through a variety of recreation and education programs. The center occupies two buildings on 8 acres at 1325 N. Johnston Ave.

“What I love most about this work is seeing positive impacts in the lives that we serve” Fricks said in a news release.

Fricks holds a bachelor’s degree in management and leadership from Judson University and will soon join the board of Alignment Rockford.

She said she hopes to raise the community center’s profile and create more awareness of its history and programs. She also plans to add activities targeted for seniors.

“We are extremely excited to have Nichol as our new leader,” Northwest Community Center Board Chairman Justin Lloyd said in a news release. “What an honor to promote someone with such an extensive history at the center and strong ties to the surrounding community. We are excited for our future and for the ongoing growth and development of programs and services offered.”
