CHERRY VALLEY — Ringland-Johnson Construction, a 76-year-old local company that employs more than 150 people, has named a new company president.

Randy Hostman brings three decades of experience to the role, most recently serving as president of Ragnar Benson Construction.

Brent Johnson will drop the role of president and remain chairman and CEO of Ringland-Johnson. He will also continue his role as project executive on the Hard Rock Rockford casino that’s under construction at Interstate 90 and East State Street in Rockford.

Hostman will primarily focus on operations, project management and special efforts for improvement of safety, labor productivity and civil projects, the company said in a news release. He previously spent 28 years with Ragnar Benson and has experience in both building and transportation projects.

Hostman graduated from South Dakota School of Mines & Technology with a degree in civil engineering, and he holds a master’s degree in construction management from Texas A&M University.

He served as resident officer in charge of construction in the U.S. Navy at Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base, and he learned tactical leadership skills in the Civil Engineer Corps., the company said.

Hostman is married to Kris and is the father of two adult daughters.

Ringland-Johnson Construction was founded Jan. 1, 1947, by Carroll Johnson, who handed the business down to his son, Larry, before Brent Johnson took over the company and continued the family tradition.

The company offers design build, construction management and general contractor services in a variety of industries.
