ROCKFORD — A sign of cooler temperatures — along with crisp red, yellow and orange leaves and traditional fall treats — arrived in mid-July.

Edwards Apple Orchard in Poplar Grove and Edwards Apple Orchard West in Winnebago announced their opening date for the 2022 season.

For many people in the Stateline, walking into that big red barn and smelling the fresh-baked apple cider donuts brings back so many memories.

From feeding goats as a kid and trying to find your way out of the maze in Edwards children’s area to picking the newly harvested Honeycrisp apples on a first date. Or even heading down to the restaurant to grab a pulled pork sandwich or a slice of homemade apple pie. There are so many nostalgic memories that we’ll be able to relive starting on Friday, Aug. 26.
