Rockford Symphony Orchestra’s “Local Pairings” is a new RSO Zoom free four-part series that will pair one area musician and an RSO classical musician to discuss the commonalities between music genres and how it has influenced their music.

The first cocktail hour pairing is RSO clarinetist Patrick Rehker and local musician Vince Chiarelli on Wednesday, Feb 24, 2021, at 6 PM via ZOOM. Vince has selected his favorites, O Sole Mio and Torna A Surriento for discussion.

Local Pairings was developed by the RSO to expand their accessibility to a non-classical audience by partnering with local musicians of various genres.  Local Pairings is made possible by a grant from the Rockford Area Arts Council.

Patrick Rehker free-lances in the Chicagoland area, teaching, and performing. He is a full-time member of the Rockford Symphony Orchestra and has performed with Chicago Sinfonietta; Chicago Chamber Orchestra; Elgin, Elmhurst, Kalamazoo, South Bend, Quad City symphonies; as well as the Las Vegas and Illinois Philharmonics.

Vince Chiarelli leads one of the most original and eclectic Italian bands, “The Vince Chiarelli Band” that has entertained audiences from coast to coast. They are acclaimed for their unique sound, which gives their audience a taste of traditional Italian music with their own modern twist and a Latin flair. The band’s popularity is credited to their unique mix and arrangements of classic Italian favorites, intertwined with romantic Italian ballads, Italian-American favorites, and enticing bossa nova and flamenco rhythms.

“Local Pairings” is free to the public but you must register to receive the zoom link HERE.
