As heavy snow develops late Monday afternoon, this may make it difficult for evening commuters with slick and dangerous travels.

Highway 20 will start to see the snowflakes first which includes places like Belvidere, Freeport, and Rockford. By late Monday afternoon, we will start to see heavy snow which will result in reduced visibility and slick icy roads. By midnight the snow will begin to dissipate but will leave travels for Tuesday, tough and treacherous.

According to Justin Ballard, Meteorologist at 13 WREX, he says, “Areas along and south of Highway 20 can expect between 6″ and 8″ of snow, with locally higher totals possible. North of Highway 20, between 4″ and 6″ is likely, with even less than that across Southern Wisconsin.”

So take your time getting to and from your destinations between Monday, January 25th, and Tuesday, the 26th.
