Cities around the world held protests in honor of the death of George Floyd over the weekend. As many are aware, most of the protests turned violent and involved looting overnight.

But what many haven’t focused on, was the peaceful beginning. Everyone coming together. The whole purpose was to get their voices heard, and they were.

Nathan Arroyave of Rockford headed down to the protest on Saturday to support his community. “The amount of diversity in the crowd is what stood out. It didn’t matter your sex, your color, your religion, or sexual orientation. Rockford came out to show support,” he said. “Most shocking to me was the younger generation that showed up. It will be the younger generation that will bring justice and equality to this world.”

Thousands of people from all different walks of life came out this weekend to stand up for what they believe in and support their fellow brothers and sisters.
